Telugu Tejam, Vijayawada: Minister Velampally Srinivasa Rao on Thursday inaugurated the Jagannath Education Gift Program at Gandhiji Municipal School. He was speaking on the occasion. "We are offering a 'Jagannanna Vidya Kanuka' kit worth Rs 1600 per student," he said. "We are spending Rs 650 crore on education," he said. Educational gift kits will be distributed in government schools from class one to class ten. Minister for Home Affairs Velampally Srinivasa Rao said that the YS Jagan government is taking steps to reduce drop outs in schools and provide the best education from the basic level. "Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy is credited with purging all systems from primary to higher education. CM Jagan said no government has taken care of education. It is through education that poor families in the society are financially strengthened. He said it was auspicious to launch an education gift to help poor students in Krishna district, which is a hub for education. Through this, there is no doubt that Andhra Pradesh will be at the forefront of education. He said the scheme would help those who are depressed to climb higher peaks with education. He said that the day-to-day program is changing the face of schools. He said the government was going ahead with the intention of getting children to read in a pleasant environment. The government aims to provide quality education to students. The event was attended by city government officials, education officials and Chamber of Commerce president Konakalla Vidyadhar Rao.
