Vijayawada: Lanka villages in Guntur and Krishna districts have been inundated due to the overflowing Krishna river. Lanka villages in Kollipora, Kollur and Bhattiprolu mandals of Guntur district are at risk of flooding. Tadepalli and Repalle zones are partially inundated. 125 families from Repalle zone Penumuru and another 30 families from Duggirala zone Peddakondoor were shifted to safer areas.
The transport system to Lanka villages in the Kollur and Bhattiprolu zones has come to a complete standstill. Authorities are preparing 50 boats and using them for emergency services. NDRF teams have been deployed at Tadepalli and Bhattiprolu. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced at Ferry Ghat in Krishna district today. Authorities evacuated residents in flood-prone areas.
Hundreds of acres of crops were submerged in Jupudi, Moolapadu and Ibrahimpatnam. In Kollur, Bhattiprolu and Kollipora zones, commercial crops worth crores of rupees were submerged. Farmers are worried about the sinking of banana, betel, turmeric and kanda crops at hand. The brick kilns were also submerged. All the prawns were washed away in the river when the levees of the shrimp ponds adjacent to the Krishna dam near Penumudi near Repalle zone were cut off.
