Mangalagiri: A major accident occurred on the national highway at Mangalagiri in Guntur district. A hydrochloric gas leak from a tanker on a national highway has caused a stir. A tanker carrying hydrochloric acid from Rajahmundry in East Godavari district to Chennai on Tuesday morning was punctured at Kaja tollgate near Mangalagiri. At the same time, the driver noticed that acid was leaking from the tanker and immediately informed the police.
The vehicle was shifted to a vacant lot opposite Nagarjuna University. Firefighters put water around the tanker. NDRF personnel reached the spot and tried to stop the tanker leakage. He said the acid leak was due to the tanker being old.
