Due to the heavy rains in the catchment area, the Krishna and Penna rivers are running towards the sea. From Almatti, Narayanpur, Ujjain projects, Mahabubnagar district is experiencing heavy flooding due to heavy rains into the Krishna river. However, the flood flow into the Srisailam project was reduced by Monday evening. The project is raising ten gates and releasing 4,99,672 cusecs downstream through the right bank power plant. As 6,03,345 cusecs reach Nagarjunasagar, 20 gates release the same level downstream.

Water Resources Department officials have once again issued notices to the owners of 32 illegal structures built in the river bed following the flooding into Prakasam Barrage.
Flood calm has not abated in Penna, tributaries Kundu and Papaghnil. The remaining 1.08 lakh cusecs are being released from the Somshila project to Kandaleru. 3.18 lakh cusecs are being released into the sea from the Dhawaleswaram barrage.
